Welcome to my Research Project webpage
This is a simple webpage about my project
Privacy concerns
- Social Media platforms collects our data by using tracking cookies geofencing and cross-site tracking.
- There are lots of data misuse in these days, like someone exploiting sensitive data for their own benefit, often at the expense of others.
- One of the key ethical dilemmas in data privacy is the balance between individual rights and the interests of businesses.
Mental Health impacts
- it can provide support and community, it can also lead to cyberbullying, social comparison, and addiction, contributing to anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem.
- Social media platforms have an ethical responsibility to mitigate these negative effects. This includes implementing content moderation, and offering mental health resources
Spread of information
- Social media plays a crucial role in the rapid spread of information. However, the speed at which false information can spread poses significant ethical concerns, as it can influence public opinion
- Platforms should combat misinformation through fact-checking tools, promoting credible sources, and stricter content moderation.
Social Relationships
- Social media can enhance relationships by facilitating communication and connection, but it can also lead to isolation and superficial interactions.
- Ethical considerations in online interactions include respect, empathy, and practicing digital citizenship. This means being mindful of others’ feelings, avoiding harmful behavior, and promoting a positive online community.
Personal Reflection
- In my daily interactions on social media, I've noticed that my behavior often reflects the broader trends of both positive and negative engagement. I enjoy using social media to stay connected with friends, share life updates, and access news. However, I also recognize that I sometimes fall into patterns of passive scrolling, comparing myself to others, and occasionally sharing content without fully verifying its accuracy.
Conclusion
- The ethical use of social media requires balancing the benefits of connectivity and information sharing with the risks of privacy violations, mental health impacts, and the spread of misinformation. Both users and platforms have a role in promoting ethical practices.
